Did Barbelith, the vision, exist in our timeframe before Grant Morrison invoked it in his comic? Is there any record of anybody else having the vision of the red circle and the line before it appeared in The Invisibles?

Whenever I search for info on Barbelith I always get info on The Invisibles. But Grant Morrison is well read and most of the esoteric things in the comic have a basis in ancient spirituality, the occult and documented shamanism. Does Barbelith, the red circle with the line, also have a documented past?

Here it is as I was told it once, old but new-minted with each fresh telling. Our world is sick, boy. Very sick. A virus got in a long time ago and we've gotten so used to its effects, we've forgotten what it was like before we became ill. I'm talking about cities, see?
Human cultures were originally homeostatic, they existed in a self sustaining equilibrium, with no notions of time and progress, like we've got. Then the city-virus got in. No one's really sure where it came from or who brought it to us, but like all viral organisms, its one directive is to use up all available resources in producing copies of itself.
More and Mor copies until there's no raw material left and the host body, overwhelmed, can only die. The cities want us all to become good builders. Eventually, we'll build rockets and carry the virus to other worlds.
Cities have their own way of talking to you; catch sight of the reflection of a neon sign and it'll spell out a magic word that summons strange dreams...

...In waking dreams I've seen cemetary planets circling abandoned stars. Like mausoleums, silent and dead, every building a headstone. That's what cities do... but those of us who know the secret learn ways to unlock the power in cities. We make a pact with them and they give us gifts in return...

Andd when we're gone, then the Earth will grow over the cities and turn them into dust. Meantime, we must make allies of the tower blocks and the motorways and the industrial estates...

OK, I'll admit it. I only lurked on Barbelith for quite some time. To be honest about it, I think the very high quality of posts intimidated me just a bit. I really liked the Head Shop, Switchboard, and Magick forums and now The Knodge has ruined it for all us harmless lurkers. Damn!

Oh, and I wanted to let you know aboot the Gay Guys Who Love Comic Books Tribe for homosexual men, faggots, masculine identified queers and all other flavors of gay men who love comic books, sequential art, superheroes, capes, sidekicks, word balloons, graphic novels, the vast ocean of unspoken love between Batman and his various Robins, the special feeling of going to the comic book store on Wednesdays with your boyfriend (or boyfriends), Marvel comics, DC comics, action figures of comic book characters, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Apollo and Midnighter, poor dead Northstar, the gay-for-two-seconds Beast, and exclamation points!!!

Grant Morrison Update

Hi guys, I'm a lurker, but I guess not anymore.

I just wanted to hear what you all think about the latest mini-series projects by Grant Morrison -- SeaGuy, We3 and Vinamarama.

So far SeaGuy was my favorite, just so bizarre and hilarious. That flying fishthing!

The Filth I felt was a bit disappointing, but I reas a real fan of his New X-Men work. The issue with the Beak and Angel in Archangel's flying school was one of my favorite comics in recent memory.
